Meredith Hinze – eLearning/eTeaching Manager, Melbourne Uni branch
Ruth has worked in a range of universities in Victoria, and her lived experience across a diverse range of roles means she has a deep understanding of professional staff issues across the sector. She is an experienced learning designer and team leader, and has worked in large and complex teams, as well as smaller under-resourced teams. She understands how ‘third space’ roles connect together in the overlapping space of academic and professional roles, working in teaching and learning support roles that directly influence learning experience for students.
Ruth has a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of issues and tensions facing third space staff. I am thrilled that she has established the NTEU Third Space Working Group to address the unique issues we face at work – especially issues that affect women in particular – including career progression, recognition and respect. I highly endorse Ruth, based on her background, lived experience, leadership skills, and her tireless advocacy and energy.
